The annual PTSA Reflections this year has come to an end at the district level with several
Central students receiving honors, and with sophomore Alex Walter going on to win at the state
level.
The theme this year was “The Magic of a Moment.” Winners at Central include Jamie Krause,
senior, for her photography; Jacqueline Zurmuhlen, freshman, for her film production; Fjorela
Pllumbaj, sophomore, for visual arts; Kirsten Liedich, freshman, for visual arts; Alex Walter,
sophomore, for film production; Tess Phaneuf, senior, for photography; and Kylie Hoef,
sophomore, for her piece in the literature category. Alex Walter also advanced to the state level
of competition and won with his short video displaying the theme.
“I’ve never done it before,” said Phaneuf, “but it’s my senior year, and I couldn’t think of a
reason why not to.”
“Every year Walled Lake Schools has a number of entries which receive recognition at the State
and even National levels,” said PTSA chairman Nancy Scott. “This shows the commitment our
parents and district administration give to the arts in our schools. This enables our students to
succeed in many more areas than just their core studies.”
Maddie Campbell and Tyler Quinn, both sophomores, received honorable mentions for the
pieces that they submitted.
