WLC Choirs, Band and Orchestra will come together for their annual Collage Concert on December 8 and 9 at 7:00 p.m in Walled Lake Central’s Auditorium.
This event is right before the winter holidays and it looked forward to by many, who can’t wait to hear live holiday music. The concert includes a variety of classic holiday songs and a couple of foreign language songs that the band, orchestra, and choir have been working on for weeks. “This concerts brings different types of music together to enable the holiday spirit,” said junior Olivia Ross.
It showcases all of Central’s amazing musical talent, and brings these three groups together on the same stage This performance is set up in a way that the transitions between each group’s songs are quick and efficient. The choir is set up on the left side of the audience and the band and orchestra switch places and share the right side. Each ensemble is excited to perform their songs for their family and friends. But the most breathtaking part of the concert is the very last song, “It’s very cool for me to be able to learn a song so fully, given that I am both a singer and a instrumentist in band,” said senior Lauren Wasiak This year all three ensembles will play or sing Hallelujah Chorus to end the show.
The concert also comes with some unexpected surprises. Last year, the concert had a surprise visit from the fire department. After many hours of standing out in the cold December air, the fire department and administration discovered that the cause of the fire alarm was a student playing around. “Hopefully this year the concert will be lit because of the songs and not actual fire,” said senior Mandy Ta.
Tickets will be available online at the wlctickets.com and at the door. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7.
