Little Mermaid coming to Central

It is that time of year again, the school musical is rapidly approaching. This year’s musical will be Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which has sparked the interest of many students. Performances will take place March 17-19 and the performing arts department has kicked into high gear as the begin to prepare for the fantastic show this year,

Winter formal coming to Walled Lake

Once again, Walled Lake Central is holding a winter formal but with some major changes. For the first time, all three Walled Lake high schools combined will host the event only for the upperclassmen on February 25 from 7pm-10pm at Suburban Showplace in Novi.

WLC leaving KLAA

The Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) will be losing 10 of its 24 members next school year, including Walled Lake Central. Other schools that have decided to leave the KLAA are Walled Lake Western, Walled Lake Northern, Waterford Mott, Waterford Kettering, Milford, South Lyon, South Lyon East, Lakeland and Pinckney.

Top 10 movies of 2016

2016 has come to a close and it is safe to say that this has been, .as far as movies go, pretty disappointing. Many of the most notable films that people were looking forward to this year, i.e Batman V. Superman and Girl on a Train, didn’t end up being the great films that we had hoped they would be. However, despite the vast sea of disappointment that that this year has produced, there have been some good films that are worth noting. Here they are:

Dictionaries choose new words for 2016

What word captures the crazy roller-coaster year that was 2016? Dictionary sites like Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, and Oxford English Dictionary have all chosen words that they feel best represent the year by looking at what words are getting searched up the most.

Men’s Bball update

Walled Lake Central men’s varsity basketball team has been quite busy since the holiday season. The team has had five games since Christmas and moved their record to 7-3.

Commerce Twnp to get new bridge

Commerce Township is getting yet another great update to their community, a pedestrian bridge that will connect three Oakland County communities. The bridge will connect from Napier Road to Haggerty Road. The construction will begin around March 2018.

Weir commits to Calvin college

Senior Kyle Weir has recently committed to Calvin College to play baseball. Weir verbally committed on December 27, 2016 and is scheduled to start to start team workouts with the program in February. Official team practices are set to start this August and lead into the start of Weir’s freshman year.

Henig commits to Jackson College

Baseball is one of the hardest sports to get a scholarship in. People think that college coaches only look for a pitcher who can throw at least 90 mph or can hit the ball over the fence every at bat to, but coaches also look for players who exhibit good character, leadership, and a good work ethic.
