Commerce Township is getting yet another great update to their community, a pedestrian bridge that will connect three Oakland County communities. The bridge will connect from Napier Road to Haggerty Road. The construction will begin around March 2018.
The new bridge is geared towards runners, bike excursions, bird watchers, and photography fans from many generations. It is being developed by the Commerce, Walled Lake and Wixom Trail Management Council. The trail is to be opened to public in Summer 2017 with all improvements, scheduled to be finished by Summer 2018. It is hoped that the bridge will be completely finished by July 2018.
Many Commerce Township area attendants are both concerned and excited for the building of the new bridge. “I think that it’s going to be great, personally I do a lot of trail riding so I’m excited for the new bridge trail but it’s going to be awhile till it’s ready,” said senior Rachel Mozak. On the other hand, Senior Arthur Lichomski said, “I’m worried that the construction of the bridge and trail will make a lot of traffic and in the summer that’s going to be pretty unfortunate.”
