Madness in March Madness hits Central

March Madness, one of the more exciting times of the year when it comes to basketball, is fast approaching. Major teams are being noticed during this time such as Kansas Jayhawks, UCLA Bruins, Villanova Wildcats, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and North Carolina Tar Heels.

Excitement grows for spring sport season

As the snow begins to melt, spring sports teams start to form and begin their preparation for the 2017 spring season. Tryouts for all spring sports, start Monday March 13 and many athletes are excited to kick off their seasons. The spring sports include baseball, softball, women’s tennis, women’s and men’s track, men’s golf, women’s and men’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, and women’s water polo.

Softball begins pre-season workouts

Though try-outs won’t take place until the week of March 13, from 4:30-6:30 pm indoors, or if the weather is nice, outdoors from 6:00-8:00 pm, students interested in trying out for the 2017 women’s softball team have been gathering in the weight room a couple of days a week in the evening to condition for the upcoming season and prepare for the week-long tryouts.

Lauren Wasiak commits to Lawrence Tech

After a lot of consideration, senior Lauren Wasiak committed to play soccer at Lawrence Technological University in mid-October. She decided on Lawrence Tech because it offers her the best of both worlds: a school that is close to home and that allows her to do what she loves.

Tigers start Spring Training

Baseball season is just around the corner and, as usual, the Tigers are readying for Spring Training. The team’s games are set to start on February 23 on its newly renovated spring training stadium, the Joker Marchant Stadium, in Lakeland, Florida.

Superbowl 51 recap

The millions of Americans who tuned in to watch the New England Patriots face off against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51, were witnesses to history. Not only was this the first Super Bowl to ever go into overtime, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady also broke two NFL records by winning his fifth super bowl (breaking Joe Montana’s previous record of four) and orchestrating the largest comeback in super bowl history. However, while the game ended in the Patriots favor, it sure didn’t start that way
