Girl Scouts, the first ‘club’ you join early on in your school life as a child. The sashes and vests covered in patches for numerous acts in the community are of course a draw, but one of the greatest parts of being a Girl Scout is the cookie sales. From Tag Alongs to Samoas and every cookie in between, they are the greatest snack to purchase. Many think that Girl Scouts are generally through a girls elementary school and middle school life, but that is in fact false.

Projects were recently introduced to students at Central. There are four projects to choose from and each helps out the community in a different way. Social Studies teachers are offering initiatives for students who choose to participate in these projects such as replacing a test grade or making up for missing assignments.
A full house went under the sea on Friday, the opening night of WLC’s production of The Little Mermaid. Saying the show was good, is an understatement- the show was spectacular.

On Friday, March 10, an unusual incident took place here at Central. During passing time, right before fifth hour, the fire alarm started to ring and the whole school seemed to be confused as to what was going on. Everyone began to scramble outside as fire trucks arrived minutes later to inspect the building. The cause remained a mystery during our time outside, but after inspection it was discovered that the cause was dust.
Walled Lake Central is gearing up for the annual Volleyball Marathon, an overnight volleyball tournament for the students starting at 8pm and going until the next morning at 5am. Packets for VBM are able to be picked up at all three lunches and are due by the March 22. The total cost is $75 dollars and that includes all of the activities that are offered.
Immigration is a heavily debated topic in today’s political scene, and as we move further into Donald Trump’s presidency we are beginning to see some of his policies on the matter take action locally. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security released Trump’s plan for depletion which involved deporting 11 million illegal immigrants that came to America during Barack Obama’s presidency. However, one of the main points of the address was that the deportation plan was going to focus on immigrants who committed major crimes, which partially contradicts what we are seeing here in Michigan and across the country.
Today, March 8, marks the celebration created for women: International Women’s Day. On this day, women unite and stand together for the human rights they deserve.
