WLC’s volunteer student body, Interact Club, and National Honor Society (NHS) members
teamed up with the national organization, Rebuilding Together to restore homes for low-income
homeowners, the elderly, and those with disabilities in the Walled Lake area on Saturday, April 27
from 8:30am-1:00pm. To help the community, students planted flowers, raked, and cleaned up the
yards of three different houses.
With a solid number of volunteers showing up, Interact, NHS, and other students were able to
complete the landscaping of three different yards for three different homes. With 70 degree weather
and and lots of sunny, those participating got a lot more done than expected.
“Rebuilding Together was awesome,” said Sydney Zelenak, President of Interact Club, “It was a
perfect day outside. We all had a blast while helping our community.”
Rebuilding Day Oakland County teams up with the national organization, Rebuilding Together,
every April, to repair and help everyday people who need it most. Teaming up with Rebuilding
Together, Walled Lake Central was able to help their community with their actions, and can
continue to do so every April, considering this is an annual event.
