Making Count Day count

By Emily Money

Every first Wednesday in October, fall count day takes place in schools across Michigan. Count information is very important to districts, as each student translated to funding from the state.

Fall count day makes up 90% of the funding for this year. Winter count day, which will be the second Wednesday in February, only makes up 10%.

To ensure accurate attendance, Central runs a 6×61 schedule, and teachers take careful attendance each hour.

All students are encouraged to attend school on count day, and make count day truly count.
