The Walled Lake Central men’s cross country team ended a successful and energetic season at their final meet, the Kensington Lakes Athletic Association (KLAA) Lakes Conference Meet on October 2, where they placed 9th. The team supported each other and ran through a competitive season.
During the last meet, they were competing against eleven local schools including Western and Northern. Central’s men placed higher than Western, who took 10th, but lower than Northern, who ranked 6th. Waterford Mott, Highland Milford, and Pinckney came in first, second, and third, respectively.
“I couldn’t run because I was injured, but as a team we definitely met our goals,” said senior runner Michael Holmes.
Throughout the season, the team trained hard every day after school and confidently represented the Central.
“We had a good season, I only came in first place once but I still did well,” said senior team member Michael Hoef.
Though many of Central’s athletes competed this season, none will be moving on to States or Regionals; however this does not mean the team did not have impressive athletes.
“Tristan Fackelman is definitely one of our stand-out athletes, even though we don’t have anyone going to States,” said Holmes.
