The Walled Lake Central ski team had their first meeting of the year. on October 21, headed up by Coach Tim McBride. The team discussed topics regarding fund raising events and the upcoming schedule.

In anticipation of the upcoming season, team members currently meet every week, Monday through Thursday, for an hour and a half in upstairs B-Pod. Their workouts include a focus on cardio, core, and legs. They also meet in the weight room for workouts towards shoulders, biceps, and triceps.

“Conditioning is challenging, but doable. He works us really hard,” said sophomore team member Gage Magnan of the workouts;

Official practices will begin November 18. Once practices start, JV and varsity teams will be formed. Each team will then get ready for the season.

The boys’ and girls’ teams both practice together, but compete separately. Last year’s senior girls had made it to State Finals three out of the four years they were on the team. The hope is for both teams to do outstanding this season.

Magnan is anxious for the season to take off. “I’m looking forward to becoming a better skier, and meeting new friends who love to ski.”
