Science teacher Dr. Mary Kay Marks recently won the Seymour Gordon Science Education & Advocacy Award on May 14. The award is sponsored by the Michigan Society for Medical Research (MISMR) organization and recognizes the outstanding contributions towardpromoting science education and advocacy.
The award was established in 1993 to recognize individuals who were helpful in developing and contributing to programs that promote science and science education, supporting the organization’s mission.
“The award was a total surprise,” said Marks. “I was humbled to realize that an organization outside of school had recognized what I do for students.”
The Seymour Gordon Science Education & Advocacy Award was only one of the awards given to diligent teachers and students across the state from MISMR.
