Seniors Elena Harroun, Miriam Tolston, and Brendan Whitworth are among 125 of the nation’s top band members to be selected by by the National Association of Music Education for inclusion in the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. These seniors were honored during a special ceremony on September 25 in the auditorium, attended by family and friends.
When someone is selected to be a part of this band, it signifies that they are one of the best in the country at what they do. Whitworth explained how he was overcome with disbelief when he learned of his selection “I didn’t believe it at first,” he said, “I kept rechecking the email to make sure it was real.”
Members of the band play during halftime at the U.S Army All-American Bowl, a game that features the best high school football players from across the nation. The game will be played on January 7, 2017 and Tolston is honored to be a part of it. “It feels good,” she said, “It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something in my high school career.”
