Spirit Week is definitely a time when Walled Lake Central represents their school through competitive events, dances and even a football game. This year, though, Central not only showed its pride around school, but also took it on “tour” by visiting younger kids in the district.
Members of the drumline and fall sports teams visited several of the district’s elementary schools and middle schools October 8, including Walnut Creek and all the elementary schools whose students eventually attend Central. Vice Principal Michelle Kalhorn, the head of the whole tour, said that they went around sponsoring the fall sports and drumline to get students active in the athletics or drumline when they come to Central.
Junior Ashley Downey, a varsity cheerleader, said that the whole experience was really entertaining for the little kids at the elementary schools. She also really enjoyed it herself. Sophomore Gustavo Aguilar, a member of the drumline, said that the kids were really excited to see the drumline play. Senior Jacob Downey, football player, said that he was pleased to see all the students enjoying the gifts that were handed out during the tour and that the whole tour was interesting for everyone.
