Although snow is on the ground, spring sports are starting up. Lacrosse tryouts for both the girls and boys team started on Monday, March 13. The tryouts for the boys were held Monday and Tuesday from 8-10 and the girls tryouts were Monday and Tuesday from 7-9.
The Lady Gladiators include girls from both Western and Central. Junior Jenna Moss offered key advice to help get through tryouts, “Go all out at tryouts so you push yourself even more at practice. That is the key to improvement.”
Junior Clara Kissling, who played on varsity last year, is excited for this new season to start, “Tryouts are getting me pumped for the season and I can’t wait to see what we can do this year.” The girls from both Western and Central form a close bond over the season and work really hard together as a team.”
The Lady Gladiators start their season out on Wednesday, March 22 against St. Catherine’s. The game is at their home field, Walled Lake Western, so take some time and cheer on your girls!
The boys’ team consist of only Central students. Senior Michael Branyon commented about tryouts. “It was brutal but it’s a grind and I’m excited for the season.” The boys’ team scrimmaged St. Clair Tuesday, March 21. Their first official game is Friday, March 24, against Royal Oak at Walled Lake Central so make sure you come out and support your boys!
