WLC goes under the sea

A full house went under the sea on Friday, the opening night of WLC’s production of The Little Mermaid. Saying the show was good, is an understatement- the show was spectacular.

The start of lacrosse season

Although snow is on the ground, spring sports are starting up. Lacrosse tryouts for both the girls and boys team started on Monday, March 13. The tryouts for the boys were held Monday and Tuesday from 8-10 and the girls tryouts were Monday and Tuesday from 7-9.

Iron Fist season one review

The Marvel Netflix universe has been far more successful than anyone could’ve anticipated. With their previous shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage) all receiving critical praise, people had high expectations for Marvel’s newest show Iron Fist. Unfortunately, for some people, it hasn’t lived up to the hype.

Track team begins season

When it comes to meet day, the team’s runners and field competitors will have the bodies skills that are needed in order to succeed. Accordingly, the track program’s talented group of coaches began the work of training and conditioning the athletes with the first track practice of the year on Monday, March 13. Around 25 girls and 40 guys showed up to join the team, no try-outs were held. During the first practice, athletes were placed onto either freshman, junior varsity, or varsity teams.

Abortion bills introduced into MI legislature

The Michigan legislature has seen two bills introduced that seem a part of the rising challenge to legalized abortion; one aims to stop funding for foundations whose missions include abortion services and the other would make available for purchase a Michigan license plate featuring a “pro-life” symbol.

How to stay safe on Spring Break

Spring Break is only a few weeks away and students are getting ready to leave the cold and gloomy Michigan weather and head off to warmer places. Although this is fun and exciting, being safe on Spring Break is very important.

Fire alarm fiasco at WLC

On Friday, March 10, an unusual incident took place here at Central. During passing time, right before fifth hour, the fire alarm started to ring and the whole school seemed to be confused as to what was going on. Everyone began to scramble outside as fire trucks arrived minutes later to inspect the building. The cause remained a mystery during our time outside, but after inspection it was discovered that the cause was dust.

Get ready for VBM

Walled Lake Central is gearing up for the annual Volleyball Marathon, an overnight volleyball tournament for the students starting at 8pm and going until the next morning at 5am. Packets for VBM are able to be picked up at all three lunches and are due by the March 22. The total cost is $75 dollars and that includes all of the activities that are offered.
