This musical is about Tracy Turnblad, a plus-sized teenage girl that gets a chance to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. Throughout the musical, Tracy attempts to fight against segregation and win the affection of fellow dancer, Link Larkin, while still encouraging everybody to dance.
“We’re very excited about our team this year. Our leads are all ages,” Mary Rashid, WLC Choir Director says in an interview on the Central website. “We have a sixth grader coming in to play Little Inez. Tracy is a tenth grader, Abby Claybaugh. I think we’ll see a lot from her. Some of our veterans: the community truly loves Josh Mandilk and Hannah Schuman. There are leads from every grade.”
Over 150 students, staff, alumni, and parents have been involved in making these performances spectacular. Dana Nehls, violinist in the pit orchestra, says, “We’ve all worked really hard and this musical should be amazing!”
