It’s all about Halftime: Poms, Marching Band, and Cheer to represent Central during this year’s Thanksgiving halftime show

By Erika Greco and Emma Weintraub

Walled Lake Central has been given the exceptional honor of displaying three of our teams at the Thanksgiving halftime show at Ford Field when the Detroit Lions take on the Green Bay Packers.  Poms, marching band, and cheer will all be there November 28, showcasing their talents and making our school proud.  All teams will be very busy prepping in the next few weeks.

“My team has been given the exciting opportunity to showcase all of our hard work and dedication at the Lions Thanksgiving Day game.  Performing in front of such a huge crowd will be so exhilarating and I cannot wait,” said Cohen.

The Marching band will offer a wide variety of music at the game. “We will be playing Conquistador music,” sophomore Mariah Tolston said.

“I am very excited about it. It is a big opportunity and I’m ready to make the most of it.” Mariah continued.

The band now has their minds set on getting a set list ready for the show after an amazing job at the State Championships where they took first place in their flight along with all the caption awards the weekend of November 1st.

By participating in this event, “It makes us want to continue doing amazing things together,” says Mariah Tolston. The band has grown into a giant family and will continue to welcome new members as the years progress.

The cheer team is also working hard to put together a routine after a successful tryout for competitive cheer. “We will practice with the band. We are going to have two practices here at Central and two practices at Ford Field,” Cheer coach Cindy Nelson said.

“I feel that this experience will be fun for the girls. It will definitely be a memory that they will never forget.” Coach Nelson continued.

It is an honor to have three of our teams from Walled Lake Central be asked to perform at such an amazing event.  Remember to tune in to Fox Channel 2 to support and cheer on your fellow Vikings on Thanksgiving Day!
