The first annual Kirk Pedersen Powder to the People 5K Color Run is an event that the Class of 2018 is putting together. It is a fundraiser for the Class of 2018 and the beloved former Walled Lake Central physical education teacher, Kirk Pedersen.
This event will be held on April 30, 2016 at 10:00 am begining at the Richardson Center. The run will be on Oakley Park Road and Newton Road. Registration is $30 and includes entry to the event to enjoy the run and other activities along with a t-shirt.
“It’s going to be amazing,” said Sophomore Class Representative Chris Hamama. “We plan on having a lot of fun and a colorful time, and after enjoy some great music.”
Pedersen had a terrible hunting accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. The money that is raised at this event will be split 50/50. Money is tight for Kirk and his family so half of the tributes will go to him.
The other half will go to the Class of 2018, it will go to other events that they hold throughout their high school careers.
