Walled Lake Central is the first high school in the state to organize a chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), a club aimed at empowering both men and women members to lead in improving health.
Oakland University has graciously volunteered to help run the club. Along with the OU students, science teacher Dr. Mary Kay Marks sponsors the club. All meetings will be held in her room.
Vice President senior Emily Hale described the club as “a place for those who want to go into medical professions”.
President senior Jenna Snider said the club will focus on “working closely with hospitals, volunteering, and talking with medical professionals to give insight into the medical field”.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 14 at 2:30 in Dr. Marks’ room, D106. The meeting will entail researching volunteer opportunities and reaching out to professors that can come in and talk to the members.
