The men’s varsity basketball team played University Prep on Tuesday night in an exciting game that ended in a 43-42 victory that was nail biter until the end.
“The game started out rough, but we finally got in a groove and finished out strong,” senior Chuck Burns said
The whole team said that senior Runako Ziegler, who had the game winning shot that gave the team their one point lead in the last four seconds of the game, had a great game. Ziegler said he felt relieved when he made the basket because he knew his team was counting on him to win the game.
The game was an exciting one especially because it’s still the beginning of the season and the team is still coming together. “There’s new faces on the team this year and it’s their first year on varsity but they’re adjusting really well,” Ziegler said. He expects them to be a contender in the Kensington Lakes Athletic Association (KLAA) this year while his teammate Senior Thomas Blannon cheered “States!” in the background.
Junior Houston Tucker spoke about his teammates and how far they are coming along since tryouts. “Christian Isso is really coming along. He is a sophomore this year and we have really taken him in and have helped him become apart of the team.”
The team has been practicing even harder since their outstanding win. The boys are hoping and expecting many wins this season and have been preparing for their next game at Pinckney. Make your way out there and fill up the stands!
