Women’s golf has had a pretty eventful season this year. Their overall record was 7-7, but they were 4-1 in the Kensington Lakes Athletic Association’s (KLAA) North Division which put them in second place overall among WL Northern, WL Western, Waterford Kettering, Waterford Mott and Lakeland High School.
Temperatures are expected to drop in the next week, which means snow should be expected any day now! Winter is an exciting time for Central students, and the snow coming has been anticipated for weeks.
This December, the Social Justice League as well as the Gay Straight Alliance have decided to team up and help the homeless people that are involved in the Matrix Off The Street shelter.
As we approach the holiday season, everyone starts to hope for snow. The first snowfall of this season was last weekend, Saturday December 3. Although snow puts everyone in the holiday spirit, things need to be considered such as warmth and safety.
The holiday season is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to give back to the community and children in need. Many kids this year will not have a chance to celebrate these holidays, nor will they be expecting to receive any gifts at all. That’s where Walled Lake Central comes in.
Model United Nations is a club that brings students together to discuss world issues and how to solve them. It is advised by Social Studies teacher Mark Willard and led by student president Shawn Hikosaka, senior. This weekend, the club is going to the Canadian-American Security Council’s event which is a Model UN conference at the Lansing Radisson hotel. It will be held all day Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. Here, members of different Model UN clubs from around the state will be able to collaborate on their ideas.
Half days in previous years were a very rare occurrence, however this school year is different. So far, Walled Lake Central has seen two half days with nine more to come throughout the year. But what do people think of the half days?
Unlike previous years, this election cycle has been a particularly unpopular one. Voters, both Republican and Democrat, believe that they have been forced to choose from a pool of seemingly unqualified presidential candidates. However, as we neared election day, differences between the two groups could not seem greater and rather than being a time for Americans to express their democratic ideals, it has been a foul and divisive experience. For some people, the results of the election has affected them far more than others and reactions have presented themselves accordingly. Members of multiple movements adversely affected have taken to the streets in anti-Trump protests.
The leadership of several student groups at WLC has extended an invitation to “Student Voices”, an upcoming forum that will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 2:30 in the library.
