Last Friday, January, 20 was not just another game for Walled Lake Central and Walled Lake Northern aside from the team’s’ huge rivalry, it was also the program’s annual Pink Out game.
In the first quarter, Central had a lead of 12 points with a score of 16-4. Northern fought back and going into the half the team was up 24-23. It was back and forth the rest of the game resulting in a tie at the end of the third quarter at 35. Tied 53-53 with 8.1 seconds left on the clock in the fourth senior Jalen Kelso from Northern scored a buzzer beater to give Northern the win 55-53.
Senior Runako Ziegler from Central had 21 points and captain senior Dylan Hudspeth had 15 points. It was a hard fought battle by both teams and it was a heartbreaking loss for Central.
“We played sensational on defense the whole game, they just made a tough shot in the last second for the win,” said Hudspeth.
Both teams put forth an outstanding effort on defense but the team who fights the hardest till the last second of the game will get the win.
Central’s student section showed there support to breast cancer by making their theme the pink out. Money for the pink out was raised by selling towels for two dollars each. $90 was raised and is going to be donated. “Selling towels to all the students in the student section brings a new level of energy and excitement” said Senior Will Crockett.
