Playing football in college is a goal that senior Matt Ford has been chasing for a while now. That goal was finally realized when he made the decision to commit to Kalamazoo College.
Ford’s decision came after meeting with Kalamazoo Head Coach Jamie Zorbo, of whom Ford spoke very highly. “The head coach seemed like a really genuine guy and he was really real with me,” Ford said.
Ford has been key member of the Walled Lake Central football program the past four years and he plans to continue that success in college. Of the the lessons he learned playing football in high school would help him on the next level, Ford mentioned that he’s more disciplined and he now knows what he needs to do and when he needs to do it.
Coach Zorbo is looking forward to working with Ford and is excited about his ability to help Kalamazoo’s football program. “He has great size and speed for a defensive back and wide receiver,” said Coach Zorbo. “He’s very versatile and we can use him in a lot of ways.” Along with Ford’s talent on the field, Coach Zorbo was also impressed with how he carried himself off the field. “Matt’s a great student and a high quality kid,” said Zorbo. “We’re about bringing in men of integrity and he fits what we’re trying to do here.”
