Spanish Club takes trip to downtown Detroit

As second semester begins here at Walled Lake Central, groups such as Spanish Club ready themselves for a whole new season of adventures. The Spanish Club, as well as the other foreign language groups, look to educate students on the cultures behind the languages they learn at school through a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Seniors start off semester with senior assembly

On February 1, an assembly was held at the beginning of the half day for the senior class of 2017. The assembly was aimed at letting the seniors know of upcoming events such as volleyball marathon, spring break, mock elections, winter formal, prom, and the senior all-night party.

New commerce library opens

The Commerce Township Community Library opened its new location at 180 E. Commerce Road, on Tuesday, January 17. The after closing the doors at its old location for the final time on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 9 pm.

Protests break out at Detroit ai

Huge crowds of protesters came together on Sunday January 29, at Detroit Metro Airport to rally against President Trump’s executive order suspending the United States Refugee system for a period of 120 days, banning Syrian refugees until further notice, and barring citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. The ban includes anyone re-entering the country on a green card.

Wind Ensemble performs at Michigan M

Members of Walled Lake Central’s Wind Ensemble traveled to DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids on Thursday January 20 to perform at the Michigan Music Conference. This is an event where only the best ensembles in Michigan come together to perform in front of prestigious musicians.

Little Mermaid coming to Central

It is that time of year again, the school musical is rapidly approaching. This year’s musical will be Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which has sparked the interest of many students.
