Tomorrow, Friday May 3, during all three lunches and SRT, students
turning 18 in 2013 will have the opportunity to register to vote in the
United States general elections. In the commons area by the cafeteria,
WLC’s PTSA and The League of Women Voters will be here registering
students. Students must fill out one form and their voter registration card
will automatically be mailed to their homes.
“Registering to vote fulfills part of a citizen’s civic duty,” said Model
UN and AP Government teacher Mark Willard.
Students who register will be able to vote in the next election for their
local government, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and other
proposals.
“Everyone who is 18 should really do it,” said Milena Beltramo, senior
at Central who will be registering.
Helping Central students register, The League of Women Voters is
today, a nonpartisan organization that plays an active role in educating
citizens about government and social reform legislation. They believe all
citizens should play an active role in America’s democracy.
So get out there and register students!
