The Walled Lake Central volleyball team is back and better than ever!
Starting the season off with a tournament in Traverse City on August 24, the varsity volleyball team of twelve girls won second place against several very competitive teams. Their record is currently 9-2-1, and great things are expected for the rest of the season.
This exceptional team is led by senior captains Erika Greco, Catelyn Girard, and Ali Ambrose. All three are very big motivators for the team. “This season is going to be great and there’s no question that we have the potential to win districts!” stated Greco.
Varsity coach Cathy Johnson has high expectations for this phenomenal team as well. “We have a very talented and motivated group of players. Our defensive specialists have really improved and are able to pass every ball so that our team will be an offensive threat at all times. We have powerful and smart hitters in all of our hitting positions so teams won’t be able to key on just one hitting position. Our blocking is the toughest that it has ever been. Overall this is an outstanding Viking Volleyball team and we are ready to play against all of the competitive teams that are in our KLAA league and that we meet at the many tournaments that we play,” stated Johnson.
All Central fans are encouraged to attend a few games and cheer on the team. “It would be absolutely amazing if we could have a lot of supporters for all of our home games, we get really hype and gain a lot of intensity when the time comes to make our school proud and show our pride,” Greco said.
The next home game is Thursday, September 19 against against Waterford Mott. This would be a great time to catch a game and show your Viking Pride!
