Costumes, trick-or-treating, and candy. What could be better than tons of candy? How about taste-testing Halloween candy? Here at The Call¸ we look for any reason to eat, so I gathered a group of expert freshman taste testers, to taste the top Halloween candy.
According to huffingpost.com Kit Kat, Twix, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and Milky Way are some of the top candies. We had our taste testers elaborate on why these candies are so good.
“I really love Twix; it’s the perfect combination, between creamy and crunchy,” said taste tester freshman Kayla Quinn.
For freshman reporter Lauren Gapp, Almond Joy is tops.
“The coconut and chocolate make me feel like I’m in the tropics, Almond Joy is delicious,” said Gapp. This wasn’t much of a favorite with all the other taste testers though. “The flavors clash, the textures clash, it’s just Yuck!” said Jenna Reynolds.
Three wonderful layers, of caramel , chocolate, and nougat make up the delicious Milky Way. “This Milky Way takes me to another galaxy the caramel and nougat work perfectly together, it’s an answer to all my prayers,” said Reynolds.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are a favorite of everyone. “Peanut Butter and chocolate, it’s my obsession. I love Reese’s,” said Gapp. 68% of trick or treaters prefer chocolate over the other types of candy. About 516 million dollars is spent on Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups , it’s ranked the second best selling candy!
It comes to the all-time favorite among all our taste testers. The infamous Kit Kat. “It’s the simplest thing yet the wafer coated in chocolate is just godly,” said Quinn.
Each year Americans spend an average of 23 dollars on candy for Halloween, which comes to a whopping $2.3 billion for nationwide sales.
