The time has finally come. Walled Lake Central’s 2014 commencement ceremony will be held at Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center on Sunday, June 1 at 1pm. Graduates must arrive by noon and report to the arena’s auxiliary gym to prepare.

“Commencement is the time where we turn from high school students to adults in the real world,” said senior Nick Kenaya, “I am looking forward to the future and embarking on this incredible journey.”

Seniors should have received two complimentary tickets at lunch. Additional tickets can be ordered through EMU and cost $5.00 each. All persons over five must have a ticket to enter. No tickets will be sold at the door of the event.

“I am excited to finally graduate and make my dad proud to be his first son to graduate high school,” said senior Cam Dyde.

Immediately following the ceremony, graduates can pick up their diploma in the arena’s auxiliary gym. NHS graduates must turn in their collars at that time. Honors graduates are allowed to keep their cords. Diplomas that are not retrieved will be held in WLC’s main office. Students must have all books returned and fines and fees paid to receive their diploma.

“I believe commencement ceremony is going to be a great memory for the entire graduating class,” said senior Catelyn Girard, “I was honored with a nomination for outstanding senior.”

Later that night, students have the opportunity to attend the Senior All Night Party, lasting from 10:30pm till 3:00am at On the Dunes sports bar. Seniors are encouraged to come enjoy graduation entertainment, food, prizes, and surprises.

“I’m really excited for all the fun things that the parents will be providing us,” said senior Alisha McCain, “I also am looking forward to hanging out at such a great venue.”
