Luck seems to be in the Vikings’ favor as the varsity football team begins the season with a 2-0 record. Following a win against both Lakeland and South Lyon East, the varsity Vikings await a season full of hard work and dedication.

On August 24, the boys played Lakeland High School. This was the first home game of the season, and the football team clearly did not disappoint. After weeks of hard work and practice, they pulled through for a successful game, winning 20-13. Senior Michael Woolridge said, “Every win is a step closer to the dream,” a sentiment that many of the players shared.

Following this triumphant win, the boys headed to South Lyon East for the second game of the season. Again, they pulled through with a win, scoring a whopping 50 points to the opponent’s 31. “I was very pleased with my teammates and how we all performed as a unit,” said senior Colton Plautz.

The football team’s philosophy of teamwork and togetherness translates to even the student section, who are  looking forward to a year full of intense games and rivalries. Senior Josie O’Connell said, “It felt great for our boys to win their first couple of games and start off the season strong.”

The football players look forward to the upcoming games, and hope to continue their undefeated streak all the way to the State Championships.
