Auditions for this year’s spring musical, The Secret Garden, started right before winter break in December. Members of the cast, tech crew, pit crew, and stage crew were selected this past Monday after call backs.
Junior Josh Thomas was ecstatic when he heard he got the leading male role. “I was nervous about call backs, [because] I didn’t think I put in my best work. Then, I saw my name next to the number one male role and I swear I jumped up and down like a little kid,” Thomas said. He said that the decisions for the role were tough, but he’s glad that he pulled through. “Everyone who tried out did amazing so of course it was a close call.”
Junior Dylan Mostyn auditioned and made it into the show as well. “It’s not my first time doing a performance or trying out. I tried out for a major role ,but got the role as someone who’s just as important.” Mostyn continued to say that he can’t wait for the whole thing to come together. “It’s exciting when it comes together. I’m also looking forward to working with the other cast members.”
Freshman Ava Hayes got the leading female role and was also proud of herself. “I thought the auditions went great for me. I worked hard at it and in the end, it payed off.” Hayes also said she can’t wait for the musical rehearsals. “I’m working with all of my a lot of new people on the musical which means it’s going to be even more fun. It will be a good show, guaranteed.”
The Secret Garden will be shown April 20-22, 27-29, and in the meantime, the students participating will be working hard to display a fantastic show.
