La La Land has been the talk of Oscar season. It won all seven of the Golden Globes it was nominated for including Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling and is now nominated for 14 Academy Awards. It has been loved by critics and audiences alike. So is it worth the hype? Simple answer: yes. It brings a new edge to an old genre of movie musicals.

Love is in the air this time of year as Valentine’s Day is rounding the corner, falling on Tuesday, February 14th this year. The couple-oriented holiday isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but others can’t wait.

Peaceful protests break out around the world

By definition, peaceful protest or nonviolent resistance is the act of expressing disapproval through a statement or action without the use of violence. Many Americans, including Central students, are following in a long history of peaceful protest to send a strong message about human rights and to act as a voice for others who are unable to have one themselves.

The last semester for seniors begin

The first semester of the 16-17 school year has to come an end and many seniors are already accepted and committed to college. Even if seniors are not yet committed to college, the first semester is over and many seniors feel like second semester does not count so stress goes way down. This means motivation for coming to school and completing school work is rare.

Life after finals

Finals have come and gone for the first semester and students at Central are relieved that they are finally over. After studying all week and enduring late nights of review, the new semester is a breath of fresh air.

Central welcomes new club- CAGE

Central’s Advocates for Gender Equality, or CAGE club, is entering its third year as a group of students prompted to discussion and action by events of discrimination against women in the media, on the news, or even in our own halls.
